New Orleans and the Brandy Milk Punch
Posted: April 9, 2019 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentBack in St. Louis today after a week in New Orleans… there’s no reason I can’t keep the “one brandy milk punch every morning routine” going though, right?

Entertaining bourbon drinkers…
Posted: March 9, 2019 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentI’m looking forward to having friends over tonight, and I like to narrow the menu down to a few recommendations so if you’re like me and a hundred page menu like Cheesecake Factory’s overwhelms you, your drinking choices are made simpler.
Tonight our cocktail recommendations are narrowed down to these six tasty libations well-suited for most tastes, but each with something a little special for a special evening.
1) A classic Brown Derby for bourbon or rye lovers
2) A classic Whiskey Sour for a classic bourbon standard
3) A house specialty called a South Grand featuring a flair of ginger liqueur for the clear spirits drinkers
4) A 43 Flip for those who want a creamy eggy specialty and to try something a little less common with the Spanish Licor 43
5) A West Indies Sour for me when I tire of bourbon and gin, and want a change to brandy
6) A Preakness for Manhattan lovers but with an added special factor of Benedictine

2019 Drink Menu & Manual!
Posted: January 28, 2019 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentThe Scientist McGee Drink Menu & Manual has been updated for 2019! Now in its 8th Edition, all of my drinks can be found in this nice and easy to print format. This newest version features all new drinks as well as some typo corrections. A brand new feature of this 8th edition is the newly added “type of drink” in the main Table of Contents, to make it easier to search for “sours” vs “cocktails” vs “flips” vs “fizzes” etc. I hope you enjoy this collection as much I have, cheers!

Up The Mississippi (from NOLA to STL)
Posted: November 23, 2018 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentThere’s a real nice sense of connection between the great towns of New Orleans and Saint Louis, it seems to me. And I created this drink to pay tribute to that spirit – an “Up The Mississippi”.

Missouri Pacific with St. Louis sorghum whiskey
Posted: November 23, 2018 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentI created this sorghum whiskey cocktail with one of my favorite spirits – S.S. Sorghum made by Still 630. To honor this incredible Missouri whiskey made on the banks of the Mississippi River, I named the drink after the Missouri Pacific Railroad (aka MoPac), one of the first railroads in the US west of the Mississippi River.

No Room For Squares
Posted: November 23, 2018 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentI created this drink a few years back using one of my favorite spirits – Still 630’s sorghum whiskey – and naming it after one of my favorite jazz records- Hank Mobley’s “No Room For Squares”. For the recipe of this drink featuring sorghum whiskey, Cointreau, Amaro Nonino, locally-made hopped lemon bitters and Angostura bitters, visit: https://www.still630.com/cocktails/no-room-for-squares

Scientist McGee’s Drink Menu & Manual – 7th Edition, 2018
Posted: April 15, 2018 Filed under: Uncategorized 2 CommentsI’m pleased as punch to share the latest and greatest version of my home bar drinks menu with all the recipes – over 250! The first edition of this endeavor was in 2012, and it featured about 75 drinks. Since then, it’s more than tripled and you can notice the evolution of camera phones through all the photos I’ve taken – beginning with simply a Blackberry and moving along to an iPhone, then an iPhone AND Instagram – haha!
I apologize for it taking me two years to put the finishing touches on this 7th edition, but I’ve been busy drinking.
I hope you enjoy these drinks as much as I do. Cheers!
