Hermann Hesse & the Duality of Making a Drink Wrong

A “Steppenwolf” – 1oz #cognac 1/2oz #darkrum 1/2oz #pearliqueur 1/2oz #amarononino 1/4oz #demerarasyrup 2d @angosturahouse bitters -Stirred/Strained- (A #SMcG twist on a #Legend cocktail, when I discovered I had no sherry in the middle of building the drink 😉)

Some drinks are duds.

I’m not surprised this drink was a “forgotten cocktail”. It’s kind of a dud. A Palm Beach Special, with 2 1/2oz #gin 3/4oz #grapefruit 1/2oz #italianvermouth – shaken and strained (from the book “Vintage Spirits & Forgotten Cocktails”)

The Martica, from Death & Co.

One of my favorites, the #Martica from @deathandconyc – 1 #brandy 1 #rum 3/4 #italianvermouth 1/4 #maraschino and 1d @angosturahouse bitters. Stir/strain.

Kansas City Original

A #Pendergrast, a #KansasCity original, with 1 1/2oz #bourbon 3/4oz #italianvermouth 1/2oz #Benedictine 2d @angosturahouse bitters and a lemon twist. Served up.
